Situated on an estate in Lower Austria, a small guesthouse is created reacting to the special surroundings. Preserving the historic building configuration dating back to the 14th century, the new element is placed on the periphery behind the old defensive wall, overlooking the existing orchard. The functional elevated pavilion consists of a very few functional rooms, whereas the fully glazed facade help convey the impression that the roof is simply a sheet floating above the old drystone wall.
To reach the guesthouse you leave the estate through an existing door in the old enclosure and follow a small path. Despite the immediate proximity to the main building a unique retreat with an independent atmosphere in the countryside is created.
